41200 — Selling a Property

1

Overview

Selling a property in Australia runs through a series of decisions that build on each other: getting the property ready to show, choosing how it will be sold, engaging an agent, marketing it to buyers, running the campaign itself (including an auction, where that method is chosen), negotiating and accepting an offer, and finally meeting the vendor’s own obligations through to settlement. The seven entries below cover this sequence in the order a vendor typically works through it.

This series covers the vendor’s side of a sale. The corresponding buyer-side steps — making an offer, cooling-off rights, conveyancing and inspections, and the buyer’s experience of settlement — are covered in the Buying a Property (41100) series, and cross-referenced throughout below rather than duplicated.
