National Quarterly Conditions Statement
1What This Node Covers
The National Quarterly Conditions Statement is Australian Property Network’s (APN’s) quarterly account of national conditions across the 21000 Series: interest rates, inflation, employment and output, household finance, demography, construction and market sentiment. It is modelled on the structure central banks use for their own quarterly statements: a statement of current conditions, a standing section on the risks to that picture, and one in-depth topic.
One statement is published each quarter, after the national accounts for that quarter are released.
2What Every Statement Does
- Describes conditions, not readings. Each section leads with what is happening in the economy and the housing market; the certified readings are the evidence, not the subject.
- Carries a standing risk section identifying the conditions under the most pressure and the evidence that would show that pressure easing or building.
- Includes one in-depth topic chosen for the quarter.
- Makes no forecast. Forward-looking statements are conditional and anchored to the declared readings.
