Office-Holders

1What This Node Covers

An Office-Holder Record is a live page on the public record of a person holding a national or state public office or statutory role that bears on housing and property conditions: what they said, what followed, and how their statements and decisions have held up. It is Australian Property Network’s (APN’s) own analysis, written with respect for the office.

2What Every Record Does
  • Sources every statement to the primary record: the institution’s own transcript or publication, or Hansard. News reports are used only for reception, and are labelled as such.
  • Quotes word for word. Every quotation is checked against the primary transcript. Wording that circulates in the press but is absent from the primary record is not attributed, and is corrected where it matters.
  • Keeps a claims ledger. Each dated forecast or commitment is set against the published outcome and marked held, held in part, not met, not borne out, revised or open.
  • Holds praise and criticism to the same standard. Both are sourced, and labelled as political or expert.
  • Stays with the office. Nothing on private life, no anonymous criticism, and no motive attributed.
  • Is kept live. Each record carries its “record as at” date and is updated after each relevant decision and parliamentary appearance.
  • Pairs elected office-holders. The record of a minister is published together with that of their opposition counterpart.
4Governance

Governed by the APN 22000 Series Editorial Standard and the constraints of Profiles (22500). National and state office-holders are both filed here; each record states its jurisdiction.
