Mobility Matrix (Transport)
One of five Agora components. Measures public transport stop density (stops per 1,000 population) from GTFS static feeds. A first-pass proxy for service level — trip-frequency parsing (scheduled trips/day from stop_times.txt) is deliberately deferred, not yet built.
Source: state/territory GTFS static feeds, 7 of 8 jurisdictions current. Census Method of Travel to Work retained as a validation cross-check only, not blended into the raw value.
Victoria’s official GTFS static feed is currently unavailable — the only substitute identified was an archived third-party mirror dated May–July 2016, a decade stale. Blending decade-old service data into a 2026 score was judged worse than a documented gap: Victoria carries no 24142 reading at all, rather than a figure built on stale data with a caveat attached. This materially thins the national coverage (3,322 of Agora’s ~6,791-locality base) relative to every other Agora component.
Alignment with the pillar. Across the 3,322 localities scored on both, this component and APN Agora™ (Amenity & Access Index) (24140) have a correlation of 0.48, on a scale where 1 means the two scores move together exactly and 0 means they are unrelated. The two are loosely aligned: a locality’s score on this component says only a little about its overall Agora score, and the component carries information the pillar’s other inputs do not.
Each bar is the average locality score in that jurisdiction, with every locality counted equally regardless of population; the dashed line marks the national mean of 50.00. Tasmania averages highest at 58.0 (235 localities) and Queensland lowest at 36.1 (476). New South Wales averages 55.4, the Northern Territory 52.8, the Australian Capital Territory 51.9, Western Australia 49.6 and South Australia 45.2. No Victorian localities are scored on this component.
The other four components of APN Agora™ (Amenity & Access Index) (24140).
- Stop-density proxy — trip-frequency signal deliberately deferred
- Victoria structurally excluded (NIL), 2016 mirror too stale to use
