This node’s own component-level population floor was extended to a whole-geography threshold in August 2026: any geography with total population ≤200 or unknown population is excluded entirely, removing 5,985 of the prior 12,750 rows (46.9% of rows, but only 2.26% of national population — median cut locality has 53 residents). This is the same convention already applied to Bedrock, Agora and Substrate, and to Meridian’s own parent composite (24130) the same day.
Alignment with the pillar. Across the 6,765 localities with more than 200 residents scored on both, this component and APN Meridian™ (Education Value Index) (24130) have a correlation of 0.83, on a scale where 1 means the two scores move together exactly and 0 means they are unrelated. The two are closely aligned: a locality that scores high on this component usually scores high on Meridian as a whole. This component is one of the pillar’s five inputs, so part of that alignment is built into the pillar itself.
Each bar is the average score of the jurisdiction’s localities with more than 200 residents, with every locality counted equally regardless of population; the dashed line marks the national mean of 54.67. The Australian Capital Territory averages highest at 86.1 (100 localities) and the Northern Territory lowest at 46.2 (162). Victoria averages 59.2, New South Wales 58.3, South Australia 55.3, Tasmania 52.7, Western Australia 51.2 and Queensland 46.5. Other Territories (4 localities) are not shown.
The other four components of APN Meridian™ (Education Value Index) (24130).
