APN Codex Node 2425024200 Series — Risk & ComplianceCertified

### APN Household Insolvency Pressure Index™

Current Reading
98.2
Indicative position — empirical ranking begins at 20 quarters (currently 19)
Model-based position · as of the quarter ending 30 June 2026

1What It Measures
The APN Household Insolvency Pressure Index™ reads household financial failure: new personal insolvencies (bankruptcies, debt agreements and personal insolvency agreements) over the past four quarters, per 100,000 population. Higher readings mean more households entering insolvency.

It is a **national time series** and a component of the APN Risk & Compliance Index™ (24200).

2Composite Construction

| Component | Source | Weight |
| --------- | ------ | ------ |
| New personal insolvencies, four quarters to date, per 100,000 population | Australian Financial Security Authority, quarterly personal insolvency statistics, all states; ABS estimated resident population | 100% |

The four-quarter sum removes the seasonal pattern in quarterly insolvency counts. The reading is standardised against the period since the December quarter 2021, the first whose four-quarter window lies wholly after the January 2021 change to the bankruptcy threshold.

3Current Reading in Context

| Input | Four quarters to June 2026 | Standardised |
| ----- | -------------------------- | ------------ |
| Personal insolvency rate | 48.2 per 100,000 (December 2021–December 2025 average 40.6) | +2.0955 |

5Reading the Pattern
The rate has risen in all but one quarter since the December quarter 2022, when it stood at 35.1 per 100,000, and at 48.2 in the four quarters to June 2026 it is the highest since the threshold change. It remains well below the range of about 121 to 152 per 100,000 recorded from 2011 to 2018, under the earlier rules.

6Methodology & Disclosed Caveats

**Recorded break.** The debt agreement reform took effect in June 2019, and the creditor’s-petition threshold was raised permanently to $10,000 from 1 January 2021, after a temporary $20,000 during 2020. Readings before the December quarter 2021 are not comparable with later ones and are not ranked or shown.
- **Indicative position.** With 19 quarters since the break, the position is model-based: the standard normal distribution evaluated at the Z-score. Empirical ranking begins automatically at 20 quarters (the September quarter 2026), with the change of basis disclosed.
- **Short baseline.** The baseline holds 17 quarters, below the platform minimum. This is disclosed rather than smoothed over.
- **Population.** The June quarter 2026 rate uses the March 2026 population, the latest published.
